northcoastpoint

  • First of many lights along the shore...
  • Lots of small waterfalls like this along the coastal road. In most places you had the water on one side, rock cliffs on the other.
  • Another light...they came in all shapes and sizes...
  • Gotta get the flag in there somehow...
  • Another light, this one on the Eastern tip of the Gaspe. They had a really cool exhibit of the foghorn system that was used when the light was ineffective due to fog.
  • Some of the Eastern coastline of the Gaspe...
  • Map of the Gaspe Peninsula...I did the entire loop around the point, ending up in New Brunswick. I strongly recommend if you get up to this area that you tour part or all of the Gaspe. Quite different from Nova Scotia. I would like to have cut across the peninsula but didn't really have to time to do both. If you zoom in on this photo, you can read quite a bit of it...if you read French.
  • Perce Rocks...lot of whale watching boats and tours of the rocks. When the tide is low, you can walk out to the rocks...my timing was a little off!
  • Another view of Perce Rocks on the way out of Perce. This is on the Eastern tip of the Gaspe
  • A cruise ship in the harbor at Campbellton...the town was full of tourists...I got out quick!
  • Sunday afternoon, heading out of Campbellton, NB
  • A shot riding along the Bais des Charleurs in NB. I continued on to Bathurst, NB where I spent the night.
  • Starting out Monday morning, I ran along the Eastern Coast of New Brunswick, next to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, lots of houses and farms along the shore. Naturally lots of small churches along the way. This one stood out.
  • I had to turn around and come back for this...someone told me they thought it might be an old school building. Seems they can't decide whether to scrape or paint...
  • Interesting old turret at a Veteran's Park...I don't think I want that job.
  • I rode on down and took the long bridge over to Prince Edward Island, but about the time I got on the island, it started raining and settled in thick, so I bailed out and took the ferry over to NS. Here I am all tied down for the ride.
  • Soggy afternoon on the ferry...was about a 75 minute ride.
  • Sunset in Inverness, NS...got in a little late and the one restaurant that was open was not really open...they had a private party going on, so I ate granola bars for dinner...yum.
  • Tuesday morning, heading up the Cabot Trail, I took a little gravel road that ran out to a point overlooking the cove...beautiful place, would love to have camped there, but there were signs...ugh!
  • Out on the grassy point, great photo location with the golden, low grass. The ocean is right over the edges at the horizon line.
